More thoughts on 5.22: The Beginning in the End

Booth: Hey, sorry. I couldn’t get a pass. I had to sneak off the base to come say goodbye. Listen, Bones, you gotta be really careful in that Indonesian jungle. Okay?

Brennan: Booth, in a week you’re going to a war zone. Please don’t be a hero. Please, just, don’t be you.

Booth: One year from today, we meet, at the reflecting pool on the Mall, right by the…

Brennan: Coffee cart. I know. One year from today.

"And so the countdown begins."

Brennan associated giving people protective advice loving them, then they did it to one another. It was very sweet, and though it was not an outright statement saying I love you, it's the only way those two seem to know how to say it, and it was made pretty obvious in that episode. And, don't forget the promise they made for a new beginning next year, in the same place as normal (reference to title)

a tribute to their relationship: http://www.fanforum.com/f218/booth-brennan-gambler-scientist-343-because-they-belong-together-year-can-t-change-62955048/

And, I've just got to add that I'm very conflicted about this year's Stanley Cup. I love Jonathan Toews and the Blackhawks, but at the same time, I know Seeley Booth/David Boreanaz cheers for the Flyers...

sherlock holmes is amazing!!!

Survivor Finale

I must admit that I started watching Survivor this season because the attractive Boston Rob was returning and I had seen him in reruns of All-Stars. because of that, I had only seen one or two finales before. what really surprised me was how civil it was after the fact. I guess it proves that it's mostly the incentive of 1 million dollars that drives people to act the way they do on the show.

About who won. Well, Sandra won, and I don't think she deserved to. She didn't win a single challenge and even at camp, she avoided elimination most of the time with her isolationist-like policy and other times, when threatened, she used some wit. I surely thought Russell played a great game, but it was a great evil game and for me it was too evil and backstabbing. Parvati, I felt, was deserving of the prize (not to mention I began cheering for her when I learned she shares the same b-day as me =p). She allied herself with the unstable, powerful Russell who could have stabbed her in the back if he wanted to. But, she made their partnership an advantage to him and to that point, he could not eliminate her. Parvati was right in saying that she had noone else to ally herself with. Noone trusted her.

#Bones

#Bones oh my god i cried.. im not kidding you i balled.. @HartHanson you did a good job with this one, just promise me nothing bad happens.

#Bones ... wtf...

well, I'd say there was general unrest with the ending, but if it came down to a vote, it might be split (?) the first tweet made me 'lol' the most
I just hope people don't give up on the series because of one episode.

Grey's Anatomy Season Finale

I don't really watch Grey's often, but I know enough about the characters to be able to drop in whenever I feeli like watching and to be able to appreciate last night's crazy episode. It was explosive. The only thing missing was a bomb. At my estimate, there were 10 people shot while in the hospital.
Biggest developments:
- Mark & Lexi working to save Alex's life and Lexi telling Alex she loved him during... awkward much?
- Cristina avoiding being shot by being nice (say what?) and giving directions. All I can say is *that was close

- Bailey being pulled from under a hospital bed by the feet
- Meredith finding she was pregnant and then her suffering a miscarriage (due to stress?)- she never told Derek, will she ever/eventually?
- Derek being shot near the heart while Meredith was watching
- Avery removing the monitor from Derek's heart so that he appeared to die (genius, right?)
- Owen having a tense moment with Teddy and then declaring his love for Cristina and then being shot while trying to save everyone
- Dr. Webber risking his life infront of the gunman
- Meredith being willing to sacrifice her life- I know she's done this kind of stuff before (shrapnel in the person) and she's allowed herself to slip away (given up in the water), but things were going good for her and she was actually brave enough to step infront of the gun for her friends and lose her life with Derek. very powerful.

Bones Season 5 Finale

Though Bones and Booth left each other for a whole year, they did promise to meet each other again… by the coffee cart. So, I say all is not lost! Though there wasn’t any what you may call progress between the two, as they didn’t truly confront any feelings physically or state their true feelings when they said goodbye, there was change. And Mr. Hanson knows that they can’t just have the same old if their relationship is going to progress past working partners. And so, as booth and Brennan agreed, change is needed once in a while. Although some people may be upset with the simple that they consider unsatisfying because it gave them little of what they wanted, they should be happy with the small things. In Brennan and Booth’s relationship, simple is everything. Brennan clearly doesn’t like to make a show of her emotions and so revealed her feelings to Booth by walking over to him, by looking over her shoulder as they walked away. Let me explain:Brennan worried about Booth’s reaction to her leaving. She felt rightly, as Booth was sad to hear she was departing the country for an anthropological project. Brennan told Hodgins she loved him because she surmised what he had said meant he loved her and wanted to return the love. Though she did not say it of her own accord, she was willing to tell him this as she does appreciate Hodgins as a coworker and friend. this means that when she confronts what she feels for Booth, she will find it harder because these feelings are even more real and are even more important to her. And don't forget, change will lead to progress.

And, did you see the distressed looks on their faces?- and then they both looked back! Brennan pleaded with Booth to forgive her for leaving, and asked him to make eye contact. Booth acted “affectionate” with Brennan. Camille made a tribute to Brennan and Brennan didn’t notice! And finally, Sweets killed it as Mr. Adventure (don’t forget about the cat noises!), as did Hodgins as abadass-son-in-law so that together, they were the terrific tandem.

And now, let me leave you with the image of their last meeting for a year: As they said goodbye in their own way, looked to the future, where and when they would meet, and then the way they looked behind them at each other as they walked away. As Cam said earlier, “Oh my God.”

Castle Season Finale: A Deadly Game

Okay. To start, I’m not going to talk about any writer other than Richard Castle. That’s right, no complaining about how the writers at ABC have messed up the whole story, I’m talking strictly about the character Castle’s choices. I’m starting to think this guy is a lost cause for Kate Beckett. She dropped everything for him and he in unceremoniously left her there, in front of the onlooking team, without truly saying goodbye . Yes, goodbye. He’s taking a break for the summer to finish his book Naked Heat (poor Kate!) with his ex-first-wife-publisher. All I can say is wow Castle, what a jerky move. Earlier in the episode, you were visibly upset to see Demming show up and now she’s appeared ready to “confront her feelings” and you walk away.
Oh yes people, those were real tears Beckett had in her eyes as Castle walked away. He broke her heart and mine too. Beckett, having realized castle was willing to leave for a while and having been talked to by Esposito, effectively “dumped” poor Demming (who asked “What did I do?” it’s not what you did Demming, it’s what Castle does)
I must say though, that poker game with all those authors (I know I said I wouldn’t talk about other writers) was amazing except for when James Patterson said “she seems more like a distraction than a muse.” He just doesn’t understand what they have going.

Two quotes about the case that paralleled what was happening between them:
“Maybe we got so caught up in the game that we lost sight of what really mattered” and
“[They] were too scared to say what they really felt”à followed by Beckett saying “that’s so sad” with a contemplative face

What I loved
- loved Castle running after Martha pleading with her to not answer the phone
- loved Beckett’s face when Castle told her it was their last case together
- loved how they were thinking about each other, as in how they were really considering what their relationship meant to them
- loved Beckett being vulnerable and honest, telling Castle she may sometimes be hard to understand, untile Gina showed up, which I hated.
- loved Beckett’s line “Well Castle, I’m not all work”
- loved Castle’s line “ If you’re not comfortable in a swimsuit, you can skinny dip”
- loved the case. the spy camp was similar to Bones’ rock and roll camp a few weeks ago. Castle was right, it did “officially make it the coolest case ever” ( he seems to say that a lot.)

One thing's for sure, the writer's at ABC (here we go with the writers agains =P) were sure to make us uncertain about Beckett and Castle's working arrangement together which would thus put their possible relationship in jeopardy.

Why I like Vampire Diaries

Why I like Vampire Diaries
- good drama, thanks to good writing
- 3-dimensional characters with real conflicts
- lots of charged confrontation between vampires
- good flashback-based storyline
- new characters, lots of deaths keep cast rotating, but a little confusing when a new vampire appears and only stays around for a while (ie. Logan)
- my favourite characters: Alaric, Anna, Stefan, Elena, Matt

on another note, when I saw the episode “Isobel,” I immediately thought of the Golden Compass. It took me a while to realize what was triggering familiarity with this storyline, especially when Isobel and John consulted on good terms at the end for the sake of their daughter.
here is why The Golden Compass is similar:
- the mother comes to town to meet her daughter
- the mother shows little compassion towards her, uses the daughter mostly for her own purpose: the alethiometer and the device
- is able to meet her daughter on her own terms, has a lot of power over others
- the protecters of the daughter can’t stop the mother from meeting with her because of power
- the final secene is an exchange between the girl’s mother and father, reveals that they ultimately care about her well-being
- the girl’s father was posing as her uncle the whole time

conclusion: very different stories that contain a very similar storyline. while watching, it had me thinking “where have I seen this before?”

Favourite tweets/ responses about bones pre-season finale

Hodgins’s sweetness:
"Angela. Whatever your name is. I'm your guy." I SO called it. #Bones #lastweek

heated argument:
"I will never forget what happened to us, TO BOOTH" - Brennan. yea....her second thought went straight to Booth....#Bones

booth/bones:
Head to shoulder dive.... Their hugs are so cute. #Bones

you are MORE than freaking partners!!! geez! what he just did for you, and how quickly you

hugged him like that...it's proof!!! #Bones

Booth is as addicted to #Bones as I am.

Part of me wonders why Booth is being so passive with Brennan. He knows that she's not fine, doesn't he? #Bones.

about Booth subduing Max:
Future father-in-law, son-in-law wrestling! #Bones
Max tried to kill someone & I love him more. @HartHanson you are making me compromise my ethics and I don't care. #Bones
What a line... I don't want you to kill people for me, why can't you buy me a sweater like a regular Dad... #Bones

gravedigger’s brilliance/ the case:
Ok, I must admit I liked the homeless man with the patent on a time machine comment by Taffett. Yes, I am ashamed. #Bones

I really don't like her! How dare she mess with Angela like that...lol! #Bones

Dammit! She's evil, but intelligent. #Bones

booth cried at the end!!! (squeel)- didn't want to see brennan go.
See, Angela really is a genius if she can do all that without having a degree in it! #Bones
Brennan, no one gives a wedding toast like you! #Bones

Bones: the boy with the answer

I must say now that I did not see the original episode about the Gravedigger, although I had heard that Booth rescued Brennan from being buried alive at some point. Because I am a new Bones watcher, I also did not know Bones had a father present in her life. But, after meeting him, I thought Max was pretty cool.

The emotional impact of this episode’s case on the characters, especially Bones, seemed very important to the storyline, but for what reason I don’t yet know. Most of the characters confronted some emotions that had been getting the best of them recently and by the end of the episode, they were able to find closure in the fact that the Gravedigger wouldn’t be on the loose anymore. Brennan especially (although she didn’t acknowledge her feelings for Booth) was upset by the trial, although she tries to suppress these emotions that come as a result of these experiences. She still has nightmares but denies this early in the episode in an attempt to remain objective as an investigator in the case so that she can continue her best work. This façade, however, falls apart at Hodgins’ accusation that she does not care about letting her case drop, at which point she says with conviction "I will never forget what happened to us, to Booth, to this boy." As we see hber struggling with the case, she admits to Booth that she’s getting ‘tired’ of dead bodies, truly indicating that she’s really been considering her emotions. She even is willing to snuggle with Booth as comfort at one point (*SIGH). Although she has not yet made a decision, it is clear that Booth doesn’t want her to go. Here’s hoping this problem is resolved in the finale. Some more doubts from Brennan that have us questioning their future together:
- "I have the sense that everything's changing, Booth."
- "I might need more than a little time."

And, the Gravedigger was put in jail even though it seemed uncertain at some points. Even Max was willing to kill her because he had so little faith in the justice system. And Booth catching him was awesome… "When are you gonna learn not to mess with me?"

Vampire Diaries: Isobel

My thoughts on this week’s episode, Isobel

The exchange between Isobel and Elena was so sad. Isobel shows up after Elena’s been searching for her this whole time. Elena’s adoptive parents have been killed, this is Elena’s last connection (other than her Aunt Jenna and Uncle John). Ispbel proves herself to be worse than Damon, showing no compassion for her daughter, acting as if she’s only meeting her because it’s advantageous to her. Elena’s hopes of a sudden reconnection are crushed. When she needs comforting, her best friend won’t even help and so all she has left is Stefan (and Damon ;p)

Something to note: Isobel’s remark about Damon loving Elena may make her seem allknowing but it’s actually Damon’s fault. If Damon hadn’t pinned Isobel to the ground in defence of Elena, Isobel would have never known. Now, Elena realizes that the spark she felt during the Miss Mystic Falls dance event wasn’t just imagined and that he may have felt it too. And while Damon was surprised she said that, I can now see how he’s going to exploit it by teasing Stefan, especially after watching one of the final scenes.

I must say, the final meeting of Isobel and Elena was awesome, though. They show up, Isobel reveals her backup and Elena quipps “You think I didn’t bring backup?” Like mother like daughter was all I thought at that point.

Now, although I said Aunt Jenna and Uncle John were Elena’s last hopes for a family (and Jeremy), I realized she has Alaric. He is basically her stepdad since him and Isobel never divorced, she just disappeared. So, I’m thinking Alaric and Elena should turn together as step-dad and step-daughter so they can join Isobel to make a family and live happily ever after. I strongly dislike Uncle John (even though according to Damon he may be Elena’s father =o) and we saw in this episode that Elena and Alaric bring out Isobel’s only redeeming qualities (despite what she likes to think), so I figure they could live ‘happily ever after.’… It could work (although Stefan would end up tagging along and Damon would follow- unless he found Catherine- so Elena is doomed either way (at least according to Isobel))
