Okay. To start, I’m not going to talk about any writer other than Richard Castle. That’s right, no complaining about how the writers at ABC have messed up the whole story, I’m talking strictly about the character Castle’s choices. I’m starting to think this guy is a lost cause for Kate Beckett. She dropped everything for him and he in unceremoniously left her there, in front of the onlooking team, without truly saying goodbye . Yes, goodbye. He’s taking a break for the summer to finish his book Naked Heat (poor Kate!) with his ex-first-wife-publisher. All I can say is wow Castle, what a jerky move. Earlier in the episode, you were visibly upset to see Demming show up and now she’s appeared ready to “confront her feelings” and you walk away.
Oh yes people, those were real tears Beckett had in her eyes as Castle walked away. He broke her heart and mine too. Beckett, having realized castle was willing to leave for a while and having been talked to by Esposito, effectively “dumped” poor Demming (who asked “What did I do?” it’s not what you did Demming, it’s what Castle does)
I must say though, that poker game with all those authors (I know I said I wouldn’t talk about other writers) was amazing except for when James Patterson said “she seems more like a distraction than a muse.” He just doesn’t understand what they have going.
Two quotes about the case that paralleled what was happening between them:
“Maybe we got so caught up in the game that we lost sight of what really mattered” and
“[They] were too scared to say what they really felt”à followed by Beckett saying “that’s so sad” with a contemplative face
What I loved
- loved Castle running after Martha pleading with her to not answer the phone
- loved Beckett’s face when Castle told her it was their last case together
- loved how they were thinking about each other, as in how they were really considering what their relationship meant to them
- loved Beckett being vulnerable and honest, telling Castle she may sometimes be hard to understand, untile Gina showed up, which I hated.
- loved Beckett’s line “Well Castle, I’m not all work”
- loved Castle’s line “ If you’re not comfortable in a swimsuit, you can skinny dip”
- loved the case. the spy camp was similar to Bones’ rock and roll camp a few weeks ago. Castle was right, it did “officially make it the coolest case ever” ( he seems to say that a lot.)
One thing's for sure, the writer's at ABC (here we go with the writers agains =P) were sure to make us uncertain about Beckett and Castle's working arrangement together which would thus put their possible relationship in jeopardy.
